Every silver lining has its cloud

yellingThat post I wrote earlier today, about the rain hopefully ending the drought in south Texas? Possibly going to be part of a series?

Well, a few minutes ago, I sashayed through my sunroom to look out in the yard and watch the downpour and I heard a strange "plink." I whirled around and saw a puddle of water on the table. There's not supposed to be a puddle of water on the table.

My roof is leaking! Aargh!

And this just two sunny days after my rental property had a horrible broken pipe upstairs that sent water cascading all over the hall and down into the kitchen and living room. My carpet cleaning guy took some fans over and is trying to dry it out, and I asked the tenants to turn down the A/C to dehumidify the house. Torrential rains don't help. I thought about that this morning when I heard it start.

I was willing to overlook that, though, but my roof leaking? No way!--I have HAD it with this rain!

Howdy there Robin

Sure am sorry to hear, y'all have a leak in your home's roof. It could be alot worst, y'all could of had a flooded crawl space.

Robin, I'm sorry to hear it, too.  With a home, if it's not one thing it's another.  We had the rainiest season ever, I believe.  Good luck with the roof!

Robin pipes breaking are no fun. We had a pipe leaking in our upstairs bath a month or so ago and I still have hole in my  downstairs utiliity room ceiling that I need to close. I've left it open just to make sure the leak is gone for good.

Robin,

I'm so sorry to hear about your leak.  That is a big bummer.

Thank God you were not out of town, right?  Or on a 2 week vacation?  I can always find the positive in the negative.

The rain is also great for your garden...........  but I'm sure the pipes and leak take precedent over gardening right now.

I am waiting for my handyman to show up and assess the damage this morning. He's going to have to go get a lot of flashing and a few shingles. Plus, it is dark and gloomy again today. Or maybe that's just my mood!

Hi Robin, I hope this will be a minor repair.  Thank goodness this was a light rain and not a heavy downpour.

Depending on how long ago you bought your home, perhaps you can sue the home inspector -- LOL.

Yeah, right, Jim! That was my first thought, of course. :)

The leaks in the roof--leaks, not a leak--have been contained for the moment. A couple of roofers are supposed to come give estimates early next week. I hope we get more rain, but not until later next week!

It's not fun to be faced with these repairs.. Glad that it is something that can be fixed though!
