After the rains - what appeared in our garden in Cibolo - Schertz, Texas

After the huge thunderstorm early Sunday morning, I went for a walk in our garden to assess the damage. Surprisingly, there didn't seem to be much, except water had washed quite a bit of mulch downhill, leaving large areas of just mud. They will be ripe for weeds to spring up, so I'll need to haul in some more mulch soon.

Meanwhile, here are a couple of new arrivals:

I don't know what type they are, but I don't intend to nibble on them, just in case!

Robin I have a great book on Texas Shrooms.....I still haven't been able to identify the edible ones.

I don't think we got any of these in our yard.  I agree with everyone else; photograph but don't eat!

Well, after a long day I am almost hungry enough to try frying them up for dinner, but I guess I will take your advice!

Robin isn't it amazing how a little rain can cause many things to just pop-up. Unfortunately, we don't have mushrooms only ant piles or hills. I can see green in our lawn again and the crape myrtles and lantana are looking good also.

Every couple of years or so, someone out here likes to pick mushrooms from the wild, cook them, and eat them. Some die, some don't. I've never seen a mushroom in the wild that looked good enough to eat.

That's wierd, we have mushrooms in our front yard too.  It's the first time that we've had them, the whole time we've lived here.  They are smaller like the ones in the store.

The mushrooms don't last long, but they are interesting!
